Long term project over 10 years - working with multiple teams to launch a new build hospital, update and maintain the various installations and artworks. The aim of the project explores new ways to improve the experience for both clinician and patient, whilst drawing on the heritage of the hospital.

Caring for people since 1907, when the hospital was opened by the National Association for the Establishment and Maintenance of Sanatoria to treat postal workers suffering from tuberculosis. Since then it’s been transformed into a modern, contemporary facility which delivers advanced healthcare using the latest procedures and technologies.
I feel very honoured to be able to work in the new development at Benenden Hospital. It is light, airy and a very welcoming environment. From the minute you walk into the hospital you’re welcomed with a friendly smile from reception. Daily you see both patients and colleagues bustling around the hospital which gives a real sense of community. The Eye Unit has become our new home. I have worked at Benenden for the last 20 years, and this has to be one of our best achievements to date. Our new facilities offer a calming environment for our patients and somewhere for our staff to escape. The main features for me is our heritage wall, which offers patients and staff information about how we got to where we are today, I love the atriums beautiful colourings and our oxygenating plants. It’s somewhere I enjoy meeting my colleagues and thoroughly enjoy showing it off to our patients and our ever evolving team of volunteers. I am a member of the support services team and I am proud to receive direct feedback from patients about our atrium being more like a 5 star plus Hotel.
